Plymouth is showing why it was voted the best place to live by CNN/Money Magazine for 2008 as it is holding together well in a generally weak housing market. The inventory build-up has slowed with new listings taken in Plymouth off 9.3% in 2008 when compared to 2007. However, sales have been a bit sluggish, down 11.6%, and as a result, single family home inventories have decreased 10.5% and townhome and condo inventories are down 13.5% when compared to 2007, a bright spot in this oversaturated market. Average sale prices in Plymouth are holding up better than the broad market, down just 3.9% year to date from a year earlier to $318,997, but the percent of list price received at sale is just 93.4%. The average days on market for those homes sold in 2008 was 128 days.
The above figures are based on information from the REGIONAL MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICE OF MINNESOTA, INC thru 12/31/2008.
